What's on your mind?
I tried making an art in Ghibli style, how well did I do at mimicking? If this is considered off-topic then sorry! You can remove it anytime.
*SPOILER ALERT in the comments below.
I already finished of see this movie, but I have a big question, what happened with Okiyo?
Did anyone else feel cheated out of a good representation of a young love story in When Marnie Was There? Like I still love the movie, it was enjoyable, but the whole Grandma thing kinda felt like a slap to the face. It's obvious that the main character still has feelings for the same gender, as she put herself in the shoes of her grandma's lover, but I feel like it could've been a very heart touching story about young love. What are your thoughts?
Definitely my new favorite!!!
Personally I absolutely hated it. It does not feel like a Ghibli film at all. The writing is awful, the pacing is nonsensical, and the characters (if they are not boring) are infuriatingly annoying. I think Goro really missed the mark here.
It has blown me away.
“Le vent se lève, il faut tenter de vivre.”
”The wind is rising, we must try to live.”
The last time I watched it was eight years ago. (I think) I did not understand it, it was so boring. The day before yesterday i rewatched it and it was a whole new wonderful ghibli experience.
According to Wikipedia Miyazaki didn’t want to make the film as he thought the subjects were inappropriate for children. But one of the staff members suggested that “children should be allowed to be exposed to subjects they are not familiar with” and thus we were rewarded with The Wind Rises.

I can't stop thinking about From up on Poppy Hill,
It's so so beautiful and i'm obsessed with what a heartwarming film it is.
I genuinely don't really like the romance genre, like at all. BUT...if it's GHIBLI ROMANCE?? i'm a hugeee fan. seriously im a sucker for ghibli romance specifically.
So, in the case of poppy hill, i cant get over how cute shun and umi are like as unfortunate as it is that we didn't get many scenes after they find out that they arent siblings (phew), i still love them together and i can enjoy their previous scenes more because ive seen it twice so i know already they are not related.
Anyways, just rambling but thanks for reading if u did and i dont know let me know if anyone else cant get over this movie lol

If GKIDS ever does decide to distribute it for home media, I would hope that they leave it un-dubbed, like they did with "Ocean Waves". There is something about the performance of the Japanese cast that goes unmatched, none of the dubbers can do as convincing voices or delivery of dialogue. Overall, I'd say they should either get people who can do realistic voices or leave it in Japanese with subtitles only. Anyone agree on that?
