The Clock Tower is located in Koriko, as seen in the Kiki's Delivery Service film.
Background[]
The clock tower is one of Koriko's most iconic landmarks. Located in a town's central plaza, it is one of the first things Kiki sees as she descends to the city streets. The tower is manned by the Clock Tower Caretaker.
History[]
During a particularly windy day, the dirigible "Spirit of Freedom" is blown from its dock and crashes into the top of the clock tower. A young boy named Tombo is swept up by the runaway airship, but is rescued thanks to the witch-in-training Kiki.
Behind the Scenes[]
The design of the clock tower is based on the Stockholm City Hall. While preparing for the ill-fated Pippi Longstocking animated project, Hayao Miyazaki traveled to Stockholm and Visby to gather reference photographs. When that project fell through, he used those reference photos as inspiration for the coastal town of Koriko.
