The Curtiss R3C-0 is Donald Curtis' signature plane.
Technical Characteristics[]
The wingspan was increased, which lowered its speed, but enhanced its mobility. Its most unique features include the underbody radiator in place of a wing surface cooling system. Two 7.7mm Browning machine guns are attached on the sides of the fuselage. Its fighting capacity is displayed in the Mediterranean Queen cruise ship attack sequence.
Background[]
Modeled after the American Curtiss R3C-2, which won the 1925 Schneider Trophy race, this fighter seaplane was custom ordered by Donald Curtis.
In The Age of the Flying Boat, the original plane's fuselage and wings displayed skulls, but in the film, a rattlesnake marks the rudder as a symbol of fortune and fame. A heart symbol has been added to the fuselage in the final match against Porco.[1]
