GKIDS is the current North American distributor for most Studio Ghibli films. It replaced Disney since their full rights expired in 2017. Their first Ghibli movie they released in North America was From Up on Poppy Hill. The name is said to be an acronym for "Guerrilla Kids International Distribution Syndicate".
