Inbe no Akita (斎部秋田 inbe akita), or Akita for short, is a minor character in The Tale of the Princess Kaguya, a film directed by Isao Takahata of Studio Ghibli.

He is a very important member of the royal court, which is located in Heian-kyō. He organize ceremonies and he gives people a name. The last mentioned task is important for people to become noble.


He is honest and try to courage people. He talks to Sanuki no Miyatsuko, that he doesn't need to worry about his daugther Kaguya. He will find a fitting name, even if she doesn't fit the noble norm. He named her Nakanaka Airashī Himegimi (なかなか愛らしい姫君) for now. It means beautiful and delightful princess. Later on Kaguya showed up and he named her Nayotake no Kaguya-Hime (なよたけのかぐや姫). It means bright/glowing princess from the mountains.

At the ceremony he talks about her beauty. But the five noblemen doesn't like it, because she came from the Forest Village.
