Kiyoshi Yokokawa (横川 清 Yokokawa Kiyoshi) is the captain of the Japanese navy army, the husband of Mrs. Yokokawa and the father of Seita Yokokawa and Setsuko Yokokawa.

Appearance

Kiyoshi has brown hair and dark eyes. In a flashback, he wears a black captain hat and a black captain uniform but a photograph shows that he is seen wearing a white captain uniform.

Plot

Kiyoshi was supposedly in the navy during World War II where Seita Yokokawa and Setsuko Yokokawa attempt to write to him several times, but they never received any reply from him.

Much later at the bank, Seita overhears that the Japanese has lost the war and the entire fleet of ships has been sunk, which causes Seita to become astonished that he finally realizes why his father hasn't written back to them.

Etymology

  • The name Kiyoshi means "pure" (清).
  • Kiyoshi's surname Yokokawa means "side" (横) (yoko) and "river, stream" (川) (kawa).
