Poppy Hill - 300 Days of War Between Father and Son (NHK ふたりコクリコ坂 ・ 父と子の300日戦争～宮崎駿 × 宮崎吾朗～ , NHK Futari-Kokuriko-zaka - Chichi to Ko no 300-nichi Sensô ～ Miyazaki Hayao x Miyazaki Gorô～) is a documentary of the making of From Up on Poppy Hill, initially broadcast on August 9, 2011, on the NHK channel, follows Gorô and Hayao Miyazaki during the 10 months of production of the feature film.
The NHK special is about 2011 animated hit From Up on Poppy Hill and the story between father and son that unfolded behind the scenes. The master, Hayao Miyazaki, was in charge of planning and scripting. The director is Goro Miyazaki, the eldest son. The NHK interview team maintained close contact Studio Ghibli's production offices for ten months. Hayao maintains an animosity towards his son, after he opposed him from directing Tales from Earthsea. For Miyazaki, who pursued animation all his life, it was unforgivable for his son, who had taken a completely different path, to suddenly become a director. This program hopes to investigate this troubled relationship.
