My Neighbour Totoro.

Hello everyone! I found the fox dub when I wasn't looking for it! Here's the story...

What the Fox dub was found on.

What the Fox dub was found on.

The first time I'd watched My Neighbour Totoro was on the 18th of July, 2021 on Netflix and they had the 2005 Disney dub. I'd heard of the Fox dub and was intrigued. However, I doubted I'd be able to easily obtain it, considering copies of it usually go for over £50. Some time later in September, I'd gotten a special collection of Studio Ghibli movies for my 14th birthday and on the 4th of October, 2021, I decided to watch My Neighbour Totoro.

I got the first disc that contained My Neighbour Totoro, Princess Mononoke and Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind (what a weird combination), put it in my DVD player, sat down, got comfortable and began watching. The Stroll song we all know and love started to play. Now, I'd listened to the Fox dub's version of the Stroll song before on YouTube and thought it was superior to the Disney dub's version, even though that version is still very well performed.

I half recognised the Fox dub's version of the dub but didn't think much due to not quite remembering the difference between the two versions, but when I heard Mei's voice wasn't quite the same as it was on Netflix, I got very excited. Then Satsuki started speaking and oh my goodness, it's the Fox dub for sure! I'd recognise Lisa Michaelson's voice from anywhere!

I had an wonderful time with the rest of the movie but when it got to the voice credits, I realised the DVD had the wrong video. It'd credited the Fanning sisters instead of Lisa Michaelson and Cheryl Chase. Whoops! Oh well, it's an understandable mistake.

If you want to own this collection, I'd suggest searching 'Studio Ghibli Movie Collection' and then looking on Google Images and searching for a DVD of 6 discs and 17 movies that looks identical to the picture at the bottom right.

I hope you all enjoyed reading this blogpost and I'll see you all another time. Goodbye!
